Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has released the Prospectus-cum-Notification for Lateral Entry Selection Test 2027 for admission in Class XI of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas for the session 2027-28. These seats arise after admission of students who are studying Class X in JNVs. Registration is free of cost and the last date to apply is Wednesday, 30 September 2026.

The date of birth condition applies to all categories of candidates, including those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
Educational Qualification

The candidate’s date of birth must be between 01 June 2010 and 31 July 2012 (both days inclusive).
The candidate must be studying in Class X during the session 2026-27 only. Candidates who have passed Class X prior to the session 2026-27 are not eligible.
The candidate must be studying in Class X in a Govt. / Govt. recognised school (affiliated to CBSE or any other State Education Board or other Govt. recognised board) of the district in which the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is located.
The candidate must be a bonafide resident of that district.

Reservation: the existing vacant seats in the SC / ST / OBC / Divyang categories as notified are reserved for students of those categories. OBC reservation follows the Central list applicable from time to time; candidates whose caste is not in the Central list should apply as General candidates.
Selection Process
- Online registration on the NVS application portal (free of cost)
- Lateral Entry Selection Test (JNVST) on 10 April 2027
- Merit list prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the subjects
- Document verification and final admission
The selection test is conducted by an external agency as per NVS policy. There is no negative marking — one mark is awarded for every correct answer, and fluid or erasing on the OMR sheet is not allowed. A candidate must score a minimum of 6 marks out of 20 in each of the 5 subjects as per NVS criteria. The portal also allows opting for a maximum of two streams.

- Keep photograph and signatures of the candidate and parent ready in JPG format between 10 KB and 100 KB
- Fill in the basic details and select the preferred stream
- Submit the form before the last date 30 September 2026
- Take a print of the submitted form for your reference
