The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) GATE has released the notification for admission through the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2027). The application form has started on 27 August 2026. The last date to apply without late fee is 05 October 2026, and candidates can apply with a late fee up to 12 October 2026. The examination will be held on 06, 07, 13, 14, 20 and 21 February 2027.

Educational Qualification

Candidates who are appearing for the GATE 2027 must be pursuing or have completed a qualifying degree such as B.E. / B.Tech, B.Arch, B.Plan, B.Sc. (Engineering / Science / Agriculture / Technology), M.Sc., M.Tech., M.Arch., M.Plan, M.E., M.Ed., MBA, MCA or any other qualifying degree as specified by the GATE 2027 authorities.

The year of qualifying degree and the category-wise conditions are given in the official GATE 2027 information brochure.

Candidates who are appearing in the final year of their qualifying degree are also eligible.

  • Visit the official GATE 2027 portal at gate2027.iitm.ac.in
  • Read the official Information Brochure carefully before filling the form
  • Register on the portal as a new user and log in
  • Fill in the application form, choose your subject codes and upload photograph and signature
  • Pay the application fee online — the fee is higher if you apply in the extended period
  • Submit the form before 05 October 2026 to avoid the late fee, or before 12 October 2026 with the late fee
  • The application rectification window runs from 14 to 21 October 2026
